About This Service

Flea Control

Fleas are one of the most frustrating pests to eliminate because they reproduce rapidly and their eggs, larvae, and pupae are resistant to most treatments. A single female flea can lay 50 eggs per day. TAPS uses a comprehensive approach — treating your home's interior, exterior yard, and pet resting areas simultaneously — targeting all life stages including eggs and larvae that standard treatments miss.

  • Interior treatment targeting carpets, furniture, and pet areas
  • Exterior yard treatment for flea larvae in soil and grass
  • IGR (Insect Growth Regulator) to prevent egg and larval development
  • Treats all life stages — eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults
  • Pet-safe products applied by licensed technicians
  • Coordination with your veterinarian's pet flea treatment
  • Follow-up visit included to ensure complete elimination

How It Works

Our Process

Simple, transparent, and effective — here's what to expect when you call TAPS.

1

Inspection

We assess the extent of infestation indoors and outdoors, identify hot spots (pet resting areas, carpeted rooms, shaded yard areas), and confirm flea species.

2

Interior Treatment

We treat carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, and pet bedding areas with a combination of adulticide and IGR. You'll need to vacuum before treatment and wash pet bedding.

3

Exterior Yard Treatment

We treat the yard with a residual insecticide focusing on shaded areas, under decks, and along fence lines where flea larvae develop in soil and organic debris.

4

Follow-Up

We return 2–3 weeks after initial treatment to treat any newly hatched fleas that survived as pupae (the most treatment-resistant life stage). This follow-up is critical for complete elimination.

FAQ

Common Questions

Why do I still see fleas after treatment?

Flea pupae (cocoons) are highly resistant to insecticides and can remain dormant for weeks. Newly hatched adults will emerge after treatment — this is normal and expected. The follow-up visit targets these newly hatched fleas before they can reproduce.

Do I need to treat my pets too?

Yes. Professional pest control treats your home and yard, but your pets must also be treated with a veterinarian-recommended flea product simultaneously. Untreated pets will re-introduce fleas to your home.

How should I prepare for flea treatment?

Vacuum all carpets and floors thoroughly before treatment (dispose of the vacuum bag immediately). Wash all pet bedding. Remove pets and people from the home during treatment and for 2–4 hours after. We provide a complete preparation checklist.

Can I get fleas without having pets?

Yes. Fleas can be brought in on clothing, enter through gaps in the home, or be present from previous occupants. Wildlife (raccoons, opossums, stray cats) in your yard can also introduce fleas.

How long does flea treatment take to work?

You'll see a significant reduction in adult fleas within 24–48 hours of treatment. Complete elimination typically takes 2–4 weeks, accounting for the pupal life stage. The follow-up visit ensures any newly hatched fleas are eliminated.
